Oil Spill in Venezuela devastates local fishermen
Lake Maracaibo fishermen sue PDVSA
MARACAIBO, Venezuela – The waters of Lake Maracaibo hide the metal veins that feed the Venezuelan economy.
At the bottom of the largest lake in South America lie thousands of kilometers of pipeline, carrying oil and serving as a communications channel with the pumping stations.
But a recent oil spill on the lake has disrupted the lives of local residents who rely on fishing to make a living.
